DEADSET RIP DECEMBER `02 There’s a new evolution in music. Some people can’t quite figure it out, but they know its there. One listen to Deadset, and it all becomes clear. Deadset is the new evolution. Combining thick metal grooves, intricate guitar riffs, hook filled melodies, rapid fire vocals, and soulful harmonies, Deadset is quickly on its way to becoming an elite force in the southern hard rock music scene. Using a variety of influences and inspirations, Deadset have concocted a style that is uniquely all their own. Their songs are aggressive enough for the hardest of the hardcore, yet melodic enough for the masses of “radio” bands. Everyone can find one element of Deadset to relate to, and the clever mixture of different styles is a testament to that. Here is a brief history of the members: Clint: Using rap based vocals and melodies, vocalist Clint Ledfords delivery is bold, yet subdued. Originally a drummer, Clint has played with a number of Rome based bands over the course of his music career, drumming for The Myth and Elvyn Keller, to fronting Common Bullet and Bag of Bonz. His lyrical attacks include politics, social relations, rejection, and complacency. He is truly at home in Deadset. Mike: “Thick, thick, thick!” That’s how guitarist Mike Smith describes his style of playing. He began playing at the age of 10, and has never looked back. Dubbed by close friends as the “riff master”, Mike endlessly conjures up his “demons within” to create music. Formerly of Common Bullet and Elvyn Keller, along with Clint, Mike’s search for a unique and hardcore brand of music has finally ended. When asked about his relations with the other band members, Mike stated, “I have found my musical soulmates.” Clay: Another alumni of Common Bullet, Clays abuse of the skins should be illegal. Coming from the school of drummers such as Vinnie Paul, Brad Wilk, and Robb Rivera, Clays bashing makes the chaos more groove oriented. Using a variety of influences in his playing, his style incorporates perfectly into Deadsets music, enabling him to go from pure aggression to subtleness in an instant. Jason: The other half of the Deadset rhythm section. His playing is as spastic and energetic as his personality, and he never goes without showing you one of them. Formerly of Oak and Infuse, Jason is not afraid to experiment with new musical ideas. Sharing the stage with the likes of Mudvayne will do that to you. “I learned more in 2 hours than I have in 12 years!” was his statement after a private sit down with Ryknow from Mudvayne. Never deviating from the core of the songs, Jason adds his own little flare to all of Deadsets music. Bryan: Watching Bryan play guitar, and you know he must have been born with one. Even after listening to the music that he has created, it’s still hard to believe that Deadset is his first band in 16 years of playing ! His influences are as diverse as his playing, going from Al Di Meola ,George Benson to Head and Munky (Korn). "Some people like to swim in the lake of Music... I swim in the Ocean of it" Having this kind of guitarist in Deadset adds depth and intricacy to the songs, and helps set them apart from all others. Bryan's Webpage
